Basic School First Aid
Practical first aid training for school staff – ideal for INSET days and whole-team bookings.

This half-day training course is tailored specifically for education settings and includes advice on managing first aid situations.
Why this course?
This 3+ hour course is appropriate for all staff, in particular those who may need to deputise in the absence of the main first aider, and is also suitable for staff who may lead or accompany educational visits. The course is similar to the Appointed Person/Basic Skills Refresher course that HSE 'strongly recommended' as an annual refresher for those who have completed a statutory First Aid at Work qualification.
This course takes place on the school site, at a time to suit (eg 9.15 - 12.30).

Looking after yourself and the casualty
Treatment of minor bleeds and minor burns
Treatment of an unresponsive casualty
Priorities of First Aid and managing the scene
Treatment of a choking casualty

Child and adult resuscitation
Treatment/management of minor injuries - sprains, cuts, bruises etc.
This course can also cover common medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis - please discuss at the time of booking

This group training is delivered face-to-face in your setting. This is a practical, hands-on course. We will need a room large enough to accommodate practical first aid activities such as bandaging, recovery and CPR.
